Chris Hyndman – Co-Host

 

A native of Newfoundland, Chris Hyndman was influenced early on by his mother’s sense of style and love of her home – a constant work in progress – and he was often involved in his mother’s design projects. Even at a young age, he understood that colour was often the lifeblood of a room, bringing a vital energy to everyone who entered.

 

Chris officially brought his innate design ideals into the professional arena more than 15 years ago when he teamed up with Steven Sabados to form The Sabados Group Inc., specializing in event planning, product launches and set design. In 2000, the pair launched the Designer Guys – a series that aired in more than 30 different countries and also caught the attention of Oprah Winfrey.  Success followed the design duo as they then went on to star in two other successful series, Design Rivals and So Chic with Steven and Chris.

 

Chris shifted his focus toward decorating for a rapidly growing residential client list. Eager to break away from traditional décor principles and styles, Chris’s unique viewpoint on design and spirituality spoke directly to the firm’s private clients. The result was a singular style blending Chris’s charisma and aesthetic bravura with an unswerving focus on the personal spirit of each homeowner.

Steven Sabados – Co-Host

 

Born in Canada surrounded by the breathtaking natural drama of Niagara Falls, Steven Sabados has often been inspired by the lush colours and rich textures of the great outdoors. He recalls his childhood home being enriched by his parents’ love of the arts and design and influenced by his grandmother, a longtime art patron with a flair for oil painting – a talent she passed on to him.

 

Steven eventually relocated to London, Ontario earning a degree in Fine Art from Fanshawe College before moving to Toronto as a Visual Presentation Supervisor for Eaton’s at the flagship Eaton Centre. He later became the Display Director for retail giant, Roots Canada, where he brought an artist’s eye to the structured world of retail and was responsible for designing both window and in-store displays for 38 Roots stores.

 

Steven then joined forces with partner Chris Hyndman to form The Sabados Group Inc., a company specializing in event planning, new product launches and interior decorating. They both quickly steered the company to national recognition launching the hit television series Designer Guys, Design Rivals and So Chic with Steven and Chris. Steven quickly became Canada’s top authority on “do it yourself” and “weekend” projects. Considered by many to be an indispensable source of design inspiration and how-to knowledge, Steven was also a contributing editor for several major décor magazines in Canada showcasing easy-to-do home and entertaining projects.
